Description

Passiflora ‘Silvie’ produces very pleasantly fragrant show stopping blooms. That means you will want to make sure to plant this one somewhere that you can enjoy the delicate fragrance. This is not the only desirable characteristic it possesses though. This cold hardy vine produces medium to large sized purple-blue blooms. Purple filaments that abruptly turn deep maroon near the center adorn this plant’s flowers.  It is a delicate looking, but large, vigorous vine with deep green lobed leaves.  Blooms profusely all summer long, and may keep blooming into winter if kept warm enough. This vine makes a good choice for both in ground or container planting as it is easy to prune to maintain its size.

To get the most out if this vine, you should plant it in full sun and give it plenty of water during the growing season.

For each item added to your cart, you will receive 1 starter plant in a 2.5” pot. A photo example of the starter plants we ship can be found on our Ordering and Shipping FAQ page. The plants are well rooted and are ready to be potted into a larger container.

For those interested, Passiflora ‘Silvie’ is P. caerulea x P. ‘Purple Haze’, and P. ‘Purple Haze’ is P. caerulea x P. amethystina.

Hardiness Zone: 9

What does hardiness zone 9 mean?

It means that this Passiflora is not cold tolerant and require protection from freezing temperatures. If you are growing it outdoors, bring it inside once it starts to freeze.  This variety will tolerate temperatures down to freezing. Frost and prolonged cold temperatures will kill it.
