Description

This is a fun little species from Brazil that is uncommon in cultivation. We think that this plant should be grown more often as it is a very attractive little plant! Passiflora miersii produces loads of small, delicate looking light pink to purplish flowers crowned with purple and white heavily banded filaments.  Additionally, this vine has dainty, oval leaves, and the backs of leaves are a rich reddish color. It is carefree, easy to grow, and it flowers freely and reliably in a container.  Though you can plant it in the ground in a frost free environment, it is a smaller vine and can easily be kept in a container or a hanging basket long term. It would pair well on a patio with sunny yellow Passiflora citrina.

If you want to benefit from the reddish leaves and multitudes of blooms, then plant this vine in full sun. In frost free environments try planting it to grow up a small tree like it would in Brazil.

For each item added to your cart, you will receive 1 starter plant in a 2.5” pot. A photo example of the starter plants we ship can be found on our Ordering and Shipping FAQ page. The plants are well rooted and are ready to be potted into a larger container.

Hardiness Zone: 10

What does hardiness zone 10 mean?

It means that Passiflora miersii is not cold tolerant and requires protection from freezing temperatures. If you are growing it outdoors, bring it inside once temperatures start regularly dipping below 50 degrees. Freezing temperatures will kill it.
