Passiflora ‘Maui’

Description

This vine, known as the Scarlet Passion Flower produces large true red flowers. These gorgeous blossoms grace this vine from fall until spring. While the majority of its blooming occurs during the winter, it may also bloom sporadically during the summer months. The blossoms on Passiflora ‘Maui’ are a full inch larger than similar varieties such as Passiflora miniata. The leaves are large, oval and somewhat fuzzy.

Following its fiery red blossoms, Maui produces tasty fruit if pollinated by a different vine.

This vine thrives on warm temperatures, and will grow rapidly in the correct environment, so you should plant this vine in full sun to get the best blooms.

What does hardiness zone 10 mean?

It means that this Passiflora is not cold tolerant and require protection from freezing temperatures. If you are growing it outdoors, bring it inside once temperatures start regularly dipping below 50 degrees. Freezing temperatures will kill it.
