Description
This is our standard bar of sheep milk soap. This simple, no-frills bar of soap is a powerhouse of moisturizers for your skin. Sheep milk is full of amazing benefit for your skin. It is bursting with moisturizing fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals. That is why each batch of soap starts with fresh, creamy sheep milk produced by ewes that are hand milked on our farm.
Here at Snowdrop Farm, we believe sheep should be out grazing grassy pastures, and that soap should be simple. It should be made of natural ingredients, good for the environment and most of all good for your skin. Our soap checks all those boxes. Our soaps are made with only 5 simple ingredients. Sheep milk, tallow, lye, kaolin clay, and fragrance. That’s it. No chemicals or preservatives with crazy names you can’t pronounce. Just simple good for you ingredients from healthy, happy animals. We even offer an unscented variety for anyone who has sensitivities to fragrances.
Our Sheep Milk Soap products ship separately from plants. All soap orders ship for a flat rate of $8.99!
Sheep Milk Soap Ingredients
- Sheep Milk. We use sheep milk for its wonderful moisturizing and skin brightening properties. Sheep milk helps to naturally exfoliate skin, and can reduce redness, and dryness for those with sensitive skin. It is 2x as concentrated in moisturizers, vitamins and minerals as other milks. This makes it an even more powerful moisturizer than goat milk soap.
-  Tallow. We use tallow for its moisturizing properties as well. Tallow makes a long lasting, creamy white soap. Tallow is also a highly sustainable and environmentally friendly ingredient. It up cycles an often wasted byproduct of the food industry into something useful.
- Lye. Lye is the ingredient that does a chemical reaction with the tallow (called saponification) that turns it from fat into soap. Lye is a natural ingredient that was traditionally made from leaching hardwood ashes. While some people might think that lye sounds scary, it is actually only sodium (like in table salt) mixed with oxygen and hydrogen molecules. You cannot make soap without lye. Plus there is no lye left in the soap. None, not even a tiny little bit. At the end of the soap making process you simply have saponified tallow.
- Kaolin Clay. We use a small amount of kaolin clay in our soaps to help the scent stick. All the surface area on the tiny little particles of clay is the perfect medium for bonding with our fragrances. The clay helps the scents to last longer by giving it something to bind to.
- Fragrance. The fragrance in each bar of soap varies depending on the variety. We typically use a mixture of essential oils and fragrance oils. All of our soaps are lightly scented, and we also offer an unscented variety for those who prefer that.

Additional Information
For each item added to your cart, you will receive 1 bar of soap.
Our bars are sold as a minimum of 3 oz. They typically range from 3.2-3.5 oz. Now, since it can be hard to imagine how ounces translates to size. Our bars are about 3″ x 2″ x 1″. Because this is a small batch handmade product, and our bars are cut by hand the dimensions and product weight may vary slightly. Additionally as soap ages it loses moisture which is a good thing. This results in a slightly lighter, but harder longer lasting bar of soap.
